Internet exposure shows a blank address or tunnel never comes up
Local tunneling sockets may be blocked by Windows Defender or third-party antivirus software. This causes the dashboard to display an empty IP or a stuck tunnel state.
What to do
- Exclude the CLI from real-time scanning: add the Void install folder (%USERPROFILE%\.void on Windows) and the running executable (voidmc.exe) to your antivirus allow / exclusion list.
- As a diagnostic step only, temporarily turn off real-time protection (or equivalent network shield), retry exposing the server, then re-enable protection and keep only the narrow exclusions you need.
- Corporate-managed PCs may enforce policy that cannot be overridden; in that case use a machine you control or configure a port forwarding rule on your router.

Windows Defender / SmartScreen Alert upon launch
Because newly compiled release binaries take time to build reputation in Microsoft SmartScreen databases, Windows Defender may display an "Unknown Publisher" warning on fresh installs.
What to do
- Click "More info" in the SmartScreen popup, then click "Run anyway".
- Verify SHA256 checksums if your organization enforces strict verification.
- All official binaries are built via automated CI pipelines with verified build logs.
